1982-1985 Bob attended the School of Performing Arts, New York City (the "Fame" school) as a Music Major. Performed with the New York Philharmonic at Avery Fischer Hall under conductor Zubin Mehta as part of the All-City High School Orchestra program. Played first professional gigs as a musician (string bass and bass guitar) in off-broadway shows at The Vineyard Theater and rock clubs like CBGB. Still managed to graduate from High School. 1984 First gig in broadcasting, as Producer/Director of "The Darren Behr Show", a weekly program on NYCTV. The cast included Chastity Bono (daughter of Sonny & Cher), and David Herman (cast of FOX's "Mad TV", "King of The Hill"). The show won an award and grant from the New York State Council on the Arts. 1985-1990 Attended the State University of New York, College at Purchase and received a BFA in Music Performance with a Minor in Graphic Design. Worked way through college as a freelance musician, with gigs ranging from a stint in Barry Manilow's band to jingle sessions for Amtrak with the singer Richie Havens to playing in the pit of the Broadway musical "Starlight Express". Was General Manager of WPUR 590 AM, the Purchase College radio station for 2 years, and wrote/produced The Donlon Edition, a radio comedy series (also featuring David Herman) that aired on over 30 classical music stations in the US and Canada. 1987-1997 Founding member of rock band The Rake's Progress, which released 2 albums on the Geffen Records label and toured the US, Canada, and Europe several times. In 1995 the band performed live on NBC's Late Night With Conan O'Brien, and that same year received the highest honor possible for any rock band in the '90's -- one of their videos was played on MTV's Beavis and Butthead. Several of the band's recordings have been in TV and Film soundtracks such as the FOX TV series Party of Five and the film Heavy. 1993 Small acting roles in the Michael J. Fox film For Love Or Money and a TV commercial for the New York Lottery. Bassist in "oldies" group The Fifth Dimension. 1995 Bassist in the band of Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter Freedy Johnston. Toured the U.S. as the opening act for Sheryl Crow. 1996-1998 Joined the Wall Street firm Smith Barney as a web designer and after 1 year was promoted to Art Director of their financial news TV channel NextGen TV. Oversaw all creative concepts and production of still and motion graphics. Managed a staff of 3 graphics designers and designed/maintained 4 graphics and editing suites. Became an expert user of video postproduction apps like Adobe After Effects, Electric Image and Avid Media Composer. 1996-1998 Studied Multimedia Design and Advanced Color Theory (post-graduate level) at the Pratt Institute and Parsons School of Design. Started to build roster of Freelance Motion Design clients including CBS News and CNBC. 1998-2000 Joined ICE (Integrated Computing Engines), a visual effects software/hardware company, as their Tehcnology Evangelist--essentially the in-house "expert user know-it-all". Traveled the world, making presentations at conferences, trade shows, users groups, and sales calls -- visiting every continent on the globe except Antarctica (seriously). Was promoted to Chief Technology Evangelist and formed & managed a worldwide group of 8 Evangelists. 2000-2003 Became Senior Evangelist at Anystream, an ICE spin-off. Was instrumental in the successful launch of this company, which is now the dominant player in automated multi-format video and audio transcoding technology. Was a panel speaker at technology conferences like NAB, IBC, InterBEE, MILIA, and Streaming Media East. Worked closely with major broadcast clients worldwide such as CNN, HBO, MTV, NHK, and RTL. 2003-2005 Formed Bleecker Street Productions, a multimedia production company. The company created TV Commercials as well as corporate and film projects ranging from promotional videos to web sites to DVDs. Became host of users' forums on Creative Cow, and is still a frequent contributor of articles and tutorials to the site. Was also the Evangelist at Media Mixer, a software company that developed an application for internet multimedia content creation. 2003-2004 Wrote and Co-Hosted TV pilot Monkey and The Rooster, an off beat travel series co-starring Gregg Lapkin (cast of "Late Night with David Letterman"). Filmed 2 pilot shows -- one in Japan and the other in the Dominican Republic. Also began relationship with VCA/Fusion as a trainer of new post-production technologies such as DVD authoring, non-linear editing, compositing/effects, and multi-format encoding. 2004

Salgado (yes, they really are rock stars in Peru) and Bostonian Ben
Arons. The band released their debut CD "Panoramic Blast"
on November 2, 2004. Became heavily involved in DVD design and authoring,
both at Bleecker Street Productions and at major New York authoring houses
such as Masterdisk and Broadness, producing discs for several feature films, TV series, and music videos.
Also collaborated on a documentary film with filmmaker Anne-Lise
Breuning. |
